Floortime Online Training Course
The Basic Course on the DIR/Floortime Model will be available online for six weeks from April 1 through May 13, 2009. I have wanted to do take a Floortime course for some time. It’s exciting to see that it will be online- that’s my kind of class.
I’m not sure if I’m going to take it. It isn’t free and there’s a lot of stuff to budget for this year. Reading the description from the website it seems like it is worth the $175.00. It’s a fifteen hour course and seems to cover many/most of the topics from Greenspan’s books. I’ve read Greenspan’s material but it was hard at times for me to visualize what he describes one should do in order to keep the child engaged. It’d be wonderful to explore the material and have Greenspan available to answer questions.
Greetings!
I am writing to ask your help in disseminating information about the Basic Course on the DIR®/Floortime™ Model, taught by child psychiatrist, Stanley I. Greenspan, M.D.. This annual conference features an overview of the Developmental, Individual Difference, Relationship-Based (DIR) Model and focuses on Assessment, Diagnosis and Intervention for Developmental and Learning Disorders, including Autistic Spectrum Disorders.
For the third year, the course will be offered online, allowing participants to participate from the comfort of their own home. It is presented as a series of 15 video lectures, each approximately one hour long, and will be available for an eight-week period, from March 12 to May 9, 2010. Participants can view the segments sequentially at their own pace, any time during the eight week period that the course is offered. Dr. Greenspan will be available to respond to questions from conference attendees and participants will have a chance to interact with parents and professionals from around the world through an interactive bulletin board.
In addition to the Basic Course on the DIR®/Floortime™ Model, three concurrent workshops will be available online during the same period, from March 12 to May 9, 2010. Two workshops, Meltdowns: Helping Infants, Children and Adolescents Overcome Behavior Problems, Aggression and Tantrums and A Lifespan Approach to Autism, will be taught by Dr. Greenspan. The third workshop, Regulatory Sensory Processing Disorders, will be taught by Rosemary White, OTR/L and Dr. Greenspan.
